Launceston Airport Redevelopment Client NameLaunceston Airport Date2009 Project Description In 2008 Launceston Airport embarked on a major terminal expansion program to cater for current and projected travel growth. The redevelopment is a key project for the Airport to achieve the Department of Infrastructure Transport, Regional Development and Local Government's requirement to have a domestic checked bag screening facility operational by 1st December 2008.
The design concept for the redevelopment establishes a common user terminal and provides more efficient check-in areas, passenger x-ray, baggage reclaim and gate lounges, as well as increased terminal capacity and improved passenger flow through the co-location of common infrastructure elements. Our Role Root Projects Australia was engaged as the Project Manager/Superintendent responsible for: managing the tender process; negotiating contracts with approved tenderers; managing the consultant team; facilitating all consents, approvals and certificates of compliance; monitoring the production of all project documentation; controlling and monitoring the project's program and budget; coordinating PCG meetings;and managing the project's completion and handover - due in October 2009.
