Project Description

The Melbourne Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Markets are in the process of relocating to a new 135 hectare site. This project requires more than 600 tenants and businesses to relocate to a new site. The new market is being redesigned to create a state-of-the-art logistics platform to support the move of fresh produce from grower to customer.

Our Role

RPA was commissioned by the Victorian Department of Primary Industries to undertake an extensive stakeholder consultation program to ascertain stakeholder requirements at the new site and to develop a Masterplan Brief that would support their business interests into the future.

We carried out extensive research into logistics platforms in Australia and overseas. We briefed and managed logistics, traffic management and a full range of other specialist consultants to provide inputs related to this extensive and complex relocation project. Outputs from this commission also included briefs for both the site Masterplan, which included making available land for complementary development, and the functional brief for the Market itself.
