Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre Business Plan Client NameQueanbeyan City Council Date2009 Project Description Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) has a 346 seat theatre and three art exhibition spaces. This facility is operated by Queanbeyan City Council, NSW, and opened on 1st March 2008. The Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre has an impressive double storey, contemporary foyer with licensed bar and reception services and extensive parking facilities. The local community has a long-established history of amateur dramatic productions. In 2009 QPAC was recognised as a leading example of local public cultural infrastructure and was awarded best in category at the Local Government Cultural Awards 2009. Our Role In April 2009 Root Projects Australia was commissioned to review and update the existing business plan for QPAC. Queanbeyan City Council required RPA to work with key stakeholders to review the current funding, staffing systems and business practices of QPAC and develop a new five-year business plan for the facility. The business plan addressed business principles, products and services, audiences, operations and service delivery models. The context was based on an analysis of all relevant Council and State Government policy documentation, project and industry data relating to the management and operations of the QPAC. A series of focus group meetings and one-on-one stakeholder consultations were completed by RPA consultants with senior representatives from the Council and professional associations. RPA produced a future directions and vision statement for QPAC to act as a key directional focus for the lifespan of the business plan and beyond. Queanbeyan City Council was provided with an updated financial and operational model that was carefully referenced in line with key target market statistics and industry guidelines to enable the long term development of the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre. |
