Mt Buller Alpine Resort Masterplan Client NameMt Buller & Mt Stirling Alpine Resorts Management Board Date2009 Project Description Mt Buller in the north-east of the State is Victoria’s largest alpine resort. It confronts many challenges among them adapting to climate change and attracting more non-winter visitors. The Mount Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board commissioned Root Projects Australia to manage the preparation of a 30-year Masterplan. Our Role Buller Ski Lifts Pty Ltd (BSL), the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board (ARMB) and Grollo Leisure and Tourism joined as partners in a major new initiative – the preparation of a Development Masterplan for Mt Buller Resort.
Root Projects Australia was commissioned by the ARMB to complete a Masterplan Brief that could be used in the development of a 20 year strategic approach to inform future infrastructure and business initiatives in the Resort. Starting with a business and operations analysis RPA collated and reviewed extensive reports and government policy documentation. Supported by a preliminary site analysis the final combined findings were drawn together under a Masterplan Brief.
In parallel an extensive series of stakeholder consultations were conducted by RPA to determine future trends, market and experience opportunities, operational and service needs. Ultimately this broad approach to engaging business owners, investors, advisors, local and State Government groups enabled RPA to assist the Mt Buller management team by defining a clear vision and set of directions for the Resort. The Masetplan Brief and procurement guidelines developed by RPA provides the ARMB with a set of control documents that will guide the future commissioning of the Masterplan. |
